The Mayo Clinic Leery of Public Health Plan

Dr. Douglas Wood: “If it’s a government-run plan with government price controls, that could be highly detrimental to states like Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin and all across the northern tier of the United States.”

I do not know how much weight to give a medical practice, medical school and medical research organization that employs 30,000 people. But many people swear by it.

The Rochester (Minn.) Post-Bulletin in Mayo’s headquarters city reported: “Mayo Clinic leery of public health plan.”

Dr. Wood is the chairman of the clinic’s division of Health Care Policy & Research.

Mayo Clinic supports providing subsidies based on a sliding scale to help make sure that all patients are covered regardless of income level. The clinic contends that health care should be portable instead of tied to a job, and that everyone should be required to have it, Wood said. It also backs prohibiting people from being excluded from coverage because of pre-existing conditions.

The clinic has also put forward the idea of “value indexing” to determine how providers get paid. Wood said that the system would take into account patient outcomes and cost over a period of time. He added that the current bills in Congress contain “very little that reflects payment for value.”

It’s expertise in the medical field is both in practice and commercial. Its managers are as competent — and as worthy in my book (someone has to make sure bills get paid) — as its medical professionals.

I am more leery of this dufus-talk from Democratic Sen Amy Klobuchar: “If we just simply change who is paying for something and do nothing to make the system more efficient, we are really not going to get where we want to go.”

This is exactly what is wrong with government-run health programs: Their goal is to save money, not lives. More than abything, this is what my opposition is: Having Sen. Klobuchar decide how “to make the system more efficient.”

Obama’s Black Camelot

From Kevin Johnson @ The Black Sphere (http://theblacksphere.net/site/obamas-black-camelot/)

The Obama’s must be black royalty.  Who else can get away with pimping poverty to black people, then living like Kennedy’s—without guilt or remorse?  The Obama’s pimping of black people makes Sharpton and Jackson look like pigs on ice.  Nobody in history has risen so fast on the backs of poor blacks, than the Obama’s, and that includes those famous black Hillbillies, the Clintons.  These two black Democrat presidents are proving that poverty is the new wealthy.

The New Camelot

The New Camelot

Michelle now wears $600 Lanvin tennis shoes, and $6000 purses.  I didn’t even know you could pay that much for such things.  That’s like having a Korean car on one arm and solid down payment for another on your feet!  God only knows what the rest of her wardrobe cost, but I bet it could feed a Kenyan village.

Barry caught no grief for his wardrobe improvement during the campaign, and one can only bet that he gets the best threads, now that he is the Head Negro in Charge.  Typically I might not begrudge America’s First Family of such indulgences. However this family was supposed to be for the poor.  Psyche!  The rise of the Obama is nothing short of amazing, when you consider that Obama had to borrow cab fare to get home from the 2000 convention…oh, and that he has done nothing to earn it and is a no talent hack.

Now Obama  is his own industry, built on sand.  His does have books, and plates!  Obama plates are in black homes all over Amerika.  I even saw one at a BBQ joint near my house.  These black proprietors had all kinds of Obama paraphernalia.  White meddling Democrats may have voted for Obama, but most were not stupid enough to buy his plate.  They left that “investment” for black folks.  And the plate has indeed mimicked the stock market, dropping from a high of $25.95 to just north of “Please steal this plate.”

Nevertheless the Obama’s dream of Black Camelot was destined to happen, especially once Barry weaseled his way into the US Senate.  That’s when the Obama’s got a cushy loan for a phat house in an exclusive area of Chicago.  This was the type of loan “ordinary people” don’t get…just the elite. During this same time Michelle got that job as a “hospital administrator” making sick money—pardon the ebonics pun.  Michelle’s position and income rose coincidentally with the “good fortune” of Barry.

Yet, with all the fortune that was coming the Obama’s way, they had not achieved Kennedy status at that time.  They were just like the rest of us—struggling millionaires trying to make ends meet.

How to break through to the real Politburo Amerikansy with that nagging citizenship issue for Barry?   Just ignore it!  A bit of strategery with the Clintons, and voila, the door was wide open to elite status.  Combine Muslim money, ACORN, and white racist Democrat elites and “presto chango” America is reborn—on the backs of the ignorant Democrats who voted for him, and at the expense of the achievers who didn’t.

Official elite status approved, Barry threw one helluva inauguration shindig, inviting all his favorite suckers.  Most expensive party in the history of America.  The type of party that gets white executives arrested and sent to jail.

Next, Michelle decides that The White House needs a new makeover.  It cost a few million, but the place was a mess– after “eight years of Bush”.

More parties, this time everybody wasn’t invited.  At these parties, the lucky are treated to $100 a pound Japanese beef!  Why so much? Are Japanese cows the size of pigs?

Here’s the wrap:

Obama Plate

Barry Obama is supposed to invoke the black experience in America.  But from where I sit, he is nowhere near this.  Sure, Oprah Winfrey, black Hollywood moguls, black music artist. And like elitist Democrats, they are all for the most part pimping blacks people! Does anybody really think Russell Simmons or Diddy would run the risk of alienating their meal tickets by telling them the truth?!  They are just as invested in black ignorance as “the man.”

As for the Obama’s, it’s not a good idea to take nobodies who have accomplished nothing except documented corruption, and give the keys to the country.  Barry has all but ruined our credit!

And Barry has DK’d the poor—DK is “don’t know” in the vernacular.  Like his racist, elitist predecessors, he is giving out the occasionally “change.”  But make no mistake about it, the lifestyles of the poor will not rise as Barry’s has.  There won’t be any impromptu trips for America’s poor to do a little shopping in Paris, nor will there be $80,000 dates in New York.  No Amerika’s poor will get what they have been getting for some time.  The shaft.

Barry and Michelle however have never pimped this big.  So America does have Black Camelot…and don’t forget your plate.

That’s my rant!

You Want Excess? – More on Congressional Waste

Thanks to “I’m Always Right, Far Right” for exposing more congressional waste. Here it is for your reading pleasure.

House Department of Agriculture; Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) today released its preliminary analysis of the House version of the Fiscal 2010 Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act

$4,545,000 for wood utilization sound excessive? Does it suprise you that this research has cost taxpayers $99.9 million since 1985?

“Isn’t that quaint? If every member pledged to not vote for it if they hadn’t read it in its entirety, I think we would have very few votes, of course – I’m not alone in this opinion. Hoyer told CNSNews.com at his regular weekly news conference, with a laugh of course, the same thing.

This is but not the last insult to the American voter. Hopefully though, we can understand what makes our highest government positions so corrupt – so that we can never let this happen again, that we will never in our generation let a party spend the treasury to such an excessive degree that we are literally staring at bankruptcy.”

$3,654,000 for the Center for Grape Genetics in Geneva by House Agriculture Appropriations Subcommittee member Maurice Hinchey (D-N.Y.)? Sound excessive? It does too me!

$2,908,000 for shrimp aquaculture? $1,438,000 for tropical aquaculture feeds? How about traveling expenses? Anyway you cut it, your money is being used to help a certain elite that has nothing to do with corporations, private money or anything of the sort.

Stimulus Has Done It’s Job?

Has the Democrat “Stimulus” done its job? President Obama thinks so. House Republicans offered Real Solutions for a Real Recovery.

Nice try Obama.

Trust on Issues

Voters now trust Republicans more than Democrats on eight out of 10 key electoral issues, including, for the second straight month, the top issue of the economy. They’ve also narrowed the gap on the remaining two issues, the traditionally Democratic strong suits of health care and education.

“The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that voters trust the GOP more on economic issues 46% to 41%, showing little change from the six-point lead the party held last month. This is just the second time in over two years of polling the GOP has held the advantage on economic issues. The parties were close on the issue in May, with the Democrats holding a one-point lead.

Voters not affiliated with either party trust Republicans more to handle the economy by a 46% to 32% margin.

Last week’s report of 9.5 percent unemployment, the highest since 1983, raised doubts about the economy and the president’s handling of it. Consumer and investor confidence is now down to the lowest levels in three months. Just 39% now say President Obama is doing a good or an excellent job on the economy while 43% rate his performance as poor. Those are by far the weakest numbers yet for the president.”

Uh oh….looks like the honeymoon is over for Obama and his Demos. Numbers this bad and you are only, what, 6 months into your presidency?

If Government Were Smaller, None of this Would Matter

These two paragraphs correctly depict the reasons Welcome to the Darkside exists. These are the reasons for, by some standards, my sudden interest in politics along with my writing/commentary. There is less freedom and more at stake in America these days.

“Meanwhile, noting the Palin hatred, the Bush hatred and, I suspect, looming Obama hatred, I have a thought on why politics is more polarized than it used to be: It’s because people have more at risk. As Jerry Pournelle wrote a while back, “We have always known that eternal vigilance is the price of freedom. It’s worse now, because capture of government is so much more important than it once was. There was a time when there was enough freedom that it hardly mattered which brand of crooks ran government. That has not been true for a long time — not during most of your lifetimes, and for much of mine — and it will probably never be true again.”

Americans used to laugh at the intensity with which people in other countries pursued politics. That was a luxury we possessed because our system kept the government small enough that people’s lives didn’t turn on who was in power. We’ve changed that now, and if we keep that change, we’re likely to suffer many of the ills that go with it.”

CNN Creates Misleading Headlines to Save Obama’s Credibility

The headline:

The “good news.”

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) — The number of Americans filing initial unemployment claims fell sharply last week, while those filing ongoing claims rose to another all-time high, according to government data released Thursday.

There were 565,000 initial jobless claims filed in the week ended July 4, down 52,000 from a revised 617,000 the previous week, the Labor Department said.

It was the lowest number since January and was below the consensus estimate of 603,000 from economists surveyed by Briefing.com.

Analysts said last week’s drop was distorted by a change in the pattern of seasonal layoffs in the automotive industry.

In other words, the “good news” is that plants closed earlier this year than normal, so the job numbers “improved.”

Here’s the actual jobs picture:

Meanwhile, the number of people requesting continued jobless benefits rose to a record high, indicating that the labor market remains weak.

The government said continuing claims rose to 6,883,000 in the week ended June 27, the most recent data available.

That’s an increase of 159,000 from the previous week’s revised total of 6,724,000 and was the highest reading since the Labor Department began keeping records in 1967.

Compare that happy news headline with how CNN headlined a story about potential job losses when a different party controlled the White House.

This isn’t bias. It’s malpractice.

You don’t say. That a major news network would cover for Obama with misldeading headlines is disgusting. The media is pushing its agenda and ideology on America and not doing its critical watchdog role.
